The Beatty Cramer House in Ceresville, Maryland, recognized as Frederick County’s oldest known residence, is set for renovation following a $46,330 grant from the county. This funding will facilitate the restoration of the property’s western porch and roof.

Constructed in the early 18th century, the Beatty Cramer House showcases a unique blend of Dutch, English, and American carpentry techniques, reflecting the region’s rich architectural heritage.

The grant is part of the Frederick County Rural Historic Preservation Grant Program, established three years ago to assist property owners and non-profit organizations in preserving historical sites. This year, eight historic properties, including the Beverly Hoke House and Linganore Farm, have received funding through this initiative.

County Executive Jessica Fitzwater expressed pride in supporting legislation that allocates funds for this program, emphasizing that preserving these buildings helps connect new generations to the community’s rich history.
