Omani felt her grey fridge was too dull and uninspiring for a family kitchen. She described it as a “cold, grey box” and decided to paint it. Using spray paint and protective wrapping paper, she created a mural showing a wide mouth with rainbow-colored “saliva,” symbolizing the act of eating and the importance of joyful mealtime rituals.

Her creativity expanded outdoors to the garden fence, which was originally plain and colorless. Before painting any part of the rented property, Omani asked her landlord for permission. He approved her request to paint the fence panels, allowing her to proceed without worry. This simple act of permission gave her the freedom to personalize the space, showing how communication between renters and landlords can support creativity in rental homes.

To create the fridge mural, Omani used old wrapping paper to shield the kitchen and sprayed freehand directly onto the appliance. She described the design as a statement about how we view everyday routines like eating. What was once a dull, grey fridge became a bright and imaginative focal point that brings joy to her kitchen.
