
Home’s History
The Gamwell House, designed in 1892 by Frank Longstaff and Henry Nelson Black, stands in Bellingham’s Fairhaven Historic District.
This Queen Anne-style home reflects the architectural grandeur of the late 19th century, adorned with elaborate woodwork crafted by Italian artisans.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, underscoring its historical significance and the intricate design elements such as a turret room and a grand staircase.

Its Current State

Today, the Gamwell House maintains its historical charm while offering modern comforts.
The residence spans 3,554 square feet, featuring four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and large communal areas including a main drawing room decorated in white and gold.

The home’s design highlights include a large bay window providing scenic views, a ten-foot-wide fireplace surrounded by beveled mirrors, and a hand-carved staircase, demonstrating the detailed craftsmanship of its era.
